FedEx International Priority DirectDistribution®
The FedEx International Priority DirectDistribution program (IPD) is a fast import program from Ecuador and Colombia to the United States via FedEx. It allows buyers to send multiple pieces from a single location to multiple recipients in the U.S. Products move as one (1) electronically consolidated shipment, clearing customs as a single unit with one Consolidated Commercial Invoice (CCI).
After customs clearance, FedEx distributes the individual packages through their Express Domestic System (P1) to their final destinations. Please see the official FedEx IPD presentation document (included) for more details.
What The Program Can Do For You
The FedEx IPD program is designed to bring buyers fresh flowers quickly and cost effectively. It also:
Who Is Eligible
All qualifying CalFlowers Floral Members – During April and May 2016 we are looking for wholesale members to really test the program and to make it worthwhile for all involved. The sign-up and on boarding process is more involved than FedEx domestic programs. Thus, it just makes business-sense to launch the program with members likely to ship between 15 and 20 boxes a week. After the initial launch phase we anticipate accepting any CalFlowers member.
How The Service Works
Floral product is ordered by the CalFlowers member who will be set up to source from Colombia and/or Ecuador. Flowers then will ship to Miami (MIA) via air cargo where a dedicated FedEx team will receive it, have it cleared, and then stage it for movement to Memphis all while maintaining the cold chain. Once it arrives in Memphis, it will be put into the FedEx Express System and shipped Priority Overnight (P1) to the domestic final destination.
