Flower Of The Month:
This month is associated with St. Valentine's Day and red roses. However, the flower of the month of February is Violet.
The flower symbolizes faithfulness, humility and chastity. Gifting violets in the Victorian era conveyed the message 'I’ll always be true’. The flower is found in shades of blue, mauve, yellow, and cream.

CalFlowers Goes to Washington
For the second year in a row, CalFlowers will be a Platinum Sponsor of SAF’s Congressional Action Days(CAD) on March 11 & 12, 2019. This is thanks to members’ support for CalFlowers’ engagement in governmental relations with other industry associations.
“Sponsoring SAF’s CAD is a productive way for CalFlowers to support this event,” said Michael LoBue, CalFlowers CEO. “SAF has a strong 35-year track record as the industry’s Washington watchdog. Sponsoring CAD allows CalFlowers to leverage SAF’s knowledge and experience and to join forces as an ‘industry voice’.”
In early January, 85 CalFlowers members provided a clear set of priorities to the new Government & Industry Relations Committee by responding to a public policy survey sent to all members.
The top five issues from the survey are:
- Immigration Reform
- Tax Reform
- White House Conference for Small Business
- E-Verify
- Minimum Wage
The top five issues were virtually the same for all member lines of business. Wholesalers represented 41% and Growers represented 26% of the respondents.

2019 World Floral Expo
World Floral Expo is coming up soon - from March 20-22, 2019, and you still have time to register to exhibit. We only have 4 booths left.

Rates on FedEx, GSO, OnTrac and Airlines can all be found as well as other handy information. With our rates for 2019 now in place, we are pleased to report that our Express discount is now better than ever for Priority and Standard Overnight! 2019 FedEx rates are now available on our website at www.cafgs.org.
We would also like to remind members to stay current with their FedEx Express shipping invoices. FedEx’s payment terms are 15 days. All members shipping on FedEx Express are expected to stay within the FedEx payment terms. To obtain your invoice details and payment options, please contact FedEx Customer Service.
And for CalFlowers members considering using FedEx to ship wine and spirits (alcohol), FedEx requires special documentation and permitting. Shipping alcohol without this documentation is not allowed and strictly enforced. For more information please visit Fedex.com.
