Jeanne Boes

Jeanne Taggart Boes is the Executive Director of the San Francisco Flower Market, Inc. and President of the Board of Directors for CalFlowers, the leading floral trade association serving the U.S. floral industry. With a career spanning over three decades, Jeanne brings both institutional knowledge and cross-industry expertise to her leadership roles. Her experience in the floral industry began in 1989 and has been anchored at the heart of the San Francisco Flower Market, where she developed a holistic understanding of every segment—growers, wholesalers, transportation, retail florists, and event designers.

Throughout her career, Jeanne has held leadership roles outside the floral sector as well, gaining experience in operational management, marketing, and community development. She has led high-performing teams, restructured organizations, and executed successful public relations and marketing campaigns.

In 2018, Jeanne spearheaded a critical effort to preserve the wholesale flower market by renegotiating a multi-million-dollar development deal. She led legal negotiations, worked closely with elected officials, and built a coalition of community supporters that ultimately secured the future of the market.

During the COVID-19 shutdown, she successfully advocated for the flower market to be recognized as essential to California agriculture, allowing operations to resume. She rebuilt her staff and implemented new safety protocols to ensure a safe and functional facility during the pandemic.

Currently, Jeanne is overseeing the relocation of the San Francisco Flower Market to a new, modern facility in Potrero Hill and leading its transition to a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Under her direction, the market is evolving into a mission-driven entity focused on education, job training, and small business sustainability—preserving a century-old institution while shaping its next chapter.
