The Memorial Day Flowers Foundation (MDFF) announces its 15th anniversary, marking a decade and a half dedicated to honoring the brave men and women who have served their nation. For fifteen years, MDFF has facilitated a poignant tradition: enabling visitors and family members to place flowers at the gravesites of America's heroes. As they step into 2025, the Foundation proudly welcomes back its steadfast recurring sponsors and expresses deep gratitude for the enthusiastic support of new partners joining our mission.

"Our journey would not have been possible without the unwavering commitment of our longtime supporters. Through every challenge, including times when the world stood still, these incredible organizations ensured the Foundation could continue its vital work."

  • CalFlowers: "Our main sponsor and a pillar of support since the beginning. MDFF simply would not exist today without their enduring partnership."

They also extend their sincere thanks to the other key flower industry sponsors:

  • Armellini Logistics
  • Passion Growers
  • The Elite Flower
  • Younger & Son
  • JetFresh Flowers
  • Sole Farms
  • 7000 Logistics
  • Queens Group
  • DV Flora
  • Galleria Farms
  • Fresca Farms
  • Mayesh
  • KometSales
  • WFFSA
  • Chrysal
  • Sunshine

"Furthermore, we acknowledge the invaluable support of government organizations like Flowers of Colombia, Asocolflores' flower country brand, whose contributions have significantly amplified our reach to commemorate this day with Colombian flowers."

This year, they are delighted to welcome their new Flower Industry supporters, including Dianthus Land Colombia, an initiative created to promote Colombian dianthus worldwide, highlighting its quality, variety, and beauty. "It is a movement that celebrates the excellence of Colombian carnations and unites the community around this unique flower."

From humble beginnings to a nationwide movement
Arlington National Cemetery remains the heart of the Foundation's mission. What began in 2011 as a heartfelt gesture involving just 10,000 roses has blossomed into a significant nationwide effort. Today, MDFF supports flower placement ceremonies at over 100 cemeteries across the country. "This decentralized approach empowers local communities to organize and participate in a collective act of remembrance for their hometown heroes."

Over the past 15 years, the Memorial Day Flowers Foundation has witnessed the profound impact of this simple yet powerful act of placing a flower. In 2024 alone, 400,000 flowers were provided for placement on the graves of service members nationwide. This year, MDFF aims to distribute at least 180,000 flowers at Arlington National Cemetery, continuing its core mission of enabling cemetery visitors to honor, thank, and remember those who selflessly served in the U.S. Armed Forces.

The flower tribute: A personal act of gratitude
"The beauty of the Memorial Day Flowers Foundation lies in its simplicity and the deeply personal nature of the tribute. Volunteers are invited to place a flower before a grave, read the inscription, and take a moment for silent gratitude, acknowledging the profound sacrifice of the individual interred."

MDFF champions a vision of widespread participation, encouraging everyone, regardless of their location, to acquire flowers from any source and visit their local cemetery to honor their heroes. "At its core, this initiative is about fostering greater awareness of the immense debt we owe to those who dedicated their lives to serving our nation. The Foundation envisions a future where, on Memorial Day, it becomes a natural and meaningful tradition for individuals to gather a few flowers and visit a local cemetery as a spontaneous act of remembrance and profound respect."

"Join us in honoring our heroes"
The Memorial Day Flowers Foundation extends an open invitation to individuals, community organizations, and businesses to become part of our mission of remembrance. There are numerous ways to get involved, from volunteering at local flower placement ceremonies to making a financial contribution that directly supports our efforts.
