"Life in Bloom” Premiere Highlights in Season 8
Here is a list of recent and upcoming episodes landing at local PBS stations all across the country in April and May - including members San Francisco Flower Market, Mayesh, and Green Point Nursery! 805 One Hundred Blooms - Celebrate 100 shows of “Life in Bloom”
801 Topiary in Bloom includes a visit to Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park to learn about their Topiary Flower Sculptures, then J shows viewers how to make personal size topiaries with a variety of flowers.
802 Flowers of Hawai’i explores the Flowers that are grown in – and typically associated with – Hawaii; specifically Anthurium, Orchids, and Heliconia! Viewers will join J in a greenhouse filled with thousands of Anthurium with the Tanouye family – Eric, Jon, and Chris – as their guides at Green Point Nursery – a 3rd generation family farm! Viewers will also tour an Orchid range and see how flowers are made ready for distribution with the greatest of care!
J also shares the fascinating story of how Dr. Tessie Amore, at the University of Hawai’i hybridizes Anthurium varieties. Dr. Tessie teaches me all about their flower breeding program, at the Magoon Research Station.
Dr. Tessie’s Passion for Flowers is Infectious and she and J take a break to arrange flowers together - while sharing flower stories.
803 Blooms By the Bay gives viewers (over 115 million viewing households) the chance to visit the NEW San Francisco Flower Market, with J as tour guide. J is a BIG FAN of this Beautiful NEW Flower Market – and shares the story of how it came to be. Jeanne Taggart Boes and Rose Robinson relate their experience making this monumental move. There’s also a visit with Former Supervisor Aaron Peskin, about the City’s perspective on this incredible market, and its long held ties to flowers. J also invites Mr. Peskin to enjoy the benefits of flowers firsthand, as they arrange flowers together! Plus - Barbara Schnur from Mayesh shares the joy of being a flower buyer!
804 Kindness Blooms shows how Flowers and Kindness go together. Ladybird and Georgy Girl are featured in a pet photography story. Also included is Kelly’s “Life in Bloom” on-camera debut in a recipe segment – learn the secret to his pie crust technique, that the show’s distributor has never seen in her 30+ years of reviewing public television shows.
805 One Hundred Blooms Celebrates 100 episodes of “Life in Bloom” along with J, Kelly, the crew and past guests! Learn how FLOWERS and the show have affected the lives viewers through their unsolicited, personal stories. J also shares his favorite moments through the 7+ season of shows. PLUS - a review of 100 Flower Crowns seen on the show!
