“Life in Bloom” News Round Up from J Schwanke

We are so excited to share this special flower video in conjunction with CalFlowers - California Association of Flowers Growers & Shippers - about "The Cold Chain for Flowers".

This video was suggested to us- at the CalFlowers Members Meeting in 2025 - by our Flower Friend Kami Castillo at Floral Trade Distributors - as a public service announcement- to remind both Long Standing Flower Industry Professionals- and those that are NEW to the Flower Industry- about the importance of Implementing, Maintaining and Improving the Cold Chain for Flowers. This brief presentation shares the Steps and Procedures that are Essential to the success of the Cold Chain - and also shares vibrant examples from respected Flower Industry Professionals, including Troy Conner at Kendall Farms, Chip Cox and Kami Castillo at Floral Trade Distributors, Barbara Schnur at Mayesh San Francisco, and Sarah Zokoe at Kennicott Grand Rapids

It’s a great visual reminder for each and every one of us in the flower industry.  We encourage anyone to share this video about the Importance of "The Cold Chain for Flowers." The video, featuring professionals from many corners of the industry underscore the important concept that as a community in the flower industry, everyone has a part to play in bringing beautiful Flowers and Foliage to market. Spreading the health and wellness effects of flowers, to everyone who gives, receives, and enjoys them!

The story of the Flower Cold Chain will also be incorporated – in a consumer-friendly way – in Season 9 of J Schwanke’s Life in Bloom, next year on public education television.
